Summary:

(5749) The impurity (Tumah) from the deities of the foreign nations is Rabbinic and has a hint in the the Torah (Gen. 35:2) "Remove the deities of the foreign nations etc" (Rambam Hil. Shar Avot HaTumah 6:1) -

The reason that Rambam brings this hint that is not mentioned in Talmud or Midrashim (that are before us).
